• Leo & Kathryn Theisen founded Theisen's, opening first store, Theisen Battery & Electric at 8th Street in Dubuque.

• Added a partner & operated as Theisen-O'Neill Tire Company for 4 years.

• Became members of a national buying group, Mid-States Distributing Company, comprised of family-owned independent retailers, such as Theisen's. Today Mid-States exists as a multi-billion dollar company, growing to over 500 stores.

• Jim Theisen, current President, joined the Company.

• First branch store opened in Maquoketa

• Anamosa store opened

• Dyersville store opened

• Theisen Distributing, the corporate headquarters and distribution facility established. It's primary function being to service the retail outlets.

• Theisen Distributing expanded & relocated to a 50,000 sq ft facility, operating as Theisen Supply Inc., as it is known today. A further expansion in 1997 took this facility to 70,000 sq ft.
• Sons, Chris and Tony, joined the operation, becoming owners in 1994.
